McQuade's go road tripp'n in the Vanski (our converted 4x4 Sprinter Van)... covering 3200 miles across 5 states in just under 3 weeks. Oh ya cant forget the worldclass mountain biking we seemed to fit in! The wifey and I covered 322 miles of singletrack riding at some of the wests top biking destinations (Park City, Sun Valley, Hood River and Bend) The boys did amazing living and sleeping in the Vanski. A common day consisted of one of us biking in the morning while the other took the boys to a library, a park, a playground, a rec center, a splash pad (made for a great shower too). Then we would switch... now its dinner time which we typically prepared in the mountains somewhere or at a park so the kids could play while we cooked. We discovered an appreciation for interstate rest areas and truck stops....good places to freshen up and sleep the night away during the highway stretches of the trip. We were only woken up once by a local police officer who didn't like us "boondocking" at small town park in hodunk ...Paul, ID. He made us move to the local truck stop :) Aside from the biking the trip was also packed full of fun what we called "Gems" - basically something that caught out eye while driving, we would make an unplanned stop and she what fun was offered. One such stop was Draper Girls Country Farm along highway 35 near Mt Hood. The boys had a blast picking and feeding their faces with fresh fruit and playing on the farm's tractors.
Thanks Matt and Tina for the great dinner and conversations!!! Kristin and I had the pleasure of meeting Matt and Tina in Japan this past winter, they so kindly had us over to their wonderful place in Sun Valley, ID. Come visit us in CO sometime!. Ps The boys are still enjoying the soccer ball you gave them :)
Enjoy the pics there are alot :)
